The promotion invited customers to sign up for a coupon giving a free 'upsize' coffee (a large one for the price of a regular). When they used the coupon, customers were sent a text message automatically, thanking them and telling them that if they use the same coupon again in the next seven days, it will be worth a free doughnut. This process continued through five levels of benefit, arriving at a completely free coffee for customers who had returned five times in a single week.
